been practicing bankruptcy law exclusively since 2001 and focuses her
practice on representing individuals, farmers, and small business owners
in bankruptcy cases. Kara has been involved in chapter 7, 11, 12, and
13 bankruptcy cases.
In
2021, she was appointed as a Chapter 7 and 12 Bankruptcy Trustee by the
U.S. Trustee, Department of Justice, to administer Chapter 7 and 12
bankruptcy cases in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. The Office of
the United States Trustee is a national program, with a mission is to
promote the integrity and efficiency of the bankruptcy system for the
benefit of all stakeholders -– debtors, creditors, and the public. Kara is a board member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) and serves
as the Chairperson for NACBA's Circuit Leader Committee. She is a
frequent course planner and presenter for national, federal, state, and
local bankruptcy law seminars, including NACBA, the National Association
of Bankruptcy Trustees (NABT), the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI),
and the Middle District Bankruptcy Bar Association (MDBBA). She is an
active board member of the MDBBA and the Attorney Advisory Board for the
Middle District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Court. In
2023, Kara was selected to serve on the American Bankruptcy Law Journal
Advisory Board (ABLJ), which is published by the National Conference of
Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ). Kara was also asked to join the Board of
Directors of the American Board of Certification (ABC), which certifies
attorneys as specialists in business bankruptcy, consumer bankruptcy,
and creditors’ rights law. She was also invited to serve on the
Advisory for the American Bankruptcy Insitute (ABI) 2023 Consumer
Practice Extravaganza (CPEX23). ___ LUKE HOMEN, Esq., is

for the largest consumer debtor firm in Cleveland, Ohio. She has also
worked for creditors and trustees. Ms. Novak’s current practice focuses on debtor representation with an emphasis on Chapter 13. Ms. Novak graduated magna cum laude from Cleveland State University College of Law. She
is active in consumer bankruptcy communities in Maryland and
nationally. Ms. Novak served as contributor to the Maryland sections of
the West’s Bankruptcy Series Bankruptcy Exemption Manual published by Thomson Reuters, and she is a frequent author and speaker on consumer bankruptcy topics. Ms.
Novak is an active member of the ABI, Maryland Bankruptcy Bar
Association, Maryland State Bar Association and its Consumer Bankruptcy
Section, NACBA, NACTT, and the NACTT Academy. ___ JUDGE DANIEL P. COLLINS
was appointed to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Arizona
effective as of January 18, 2013. Judge Collins was the 2023 President
of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, is a Fellow in the
American College of Bankruptcy, is on the 9th Circuit’s Trial
Improvement Committee, is on the JCUS’s Bankruptcy Judges Advisory
Group, and was on the national Board of the American Bankruptcy
